Thomas & Bo’s Destination Wedding in Rome

Some wedding days feel like they have their own visual language.
Thomas and Bo’s wedding in Rome was stylish, slightly edgy and completely personal, with a nighttime portrait session through the city, a celebration at Soho House and plenty of little details that made the day unmistakably theirs.
We actually started the story the night before the wedding, walking through Rome after dark: Piazza di Spagna, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Pietra and the Pantheon became the backdrop for their night time shoot.
Bo wore black Louboutins for the occasion, saving a white pair for the wedding itself.
I loved that little detail. Two pairs of the same iconic shoes, two completely different parts of their wedding story.
The next morning, the atmosphere changed completely.
Thomas got ready surrounded by friends and family, with Peroni Nastro Azzurro making an appearance along the way. The mood was relaxed but still very polished, with an effortlessly cool energy that suited him perfectly.
Bo spent the morning with her two best friends, who did her hair and makeup. She wore a personalised kimono with their names and wedding date, had champagne and lunch before the ceremony, and eventually got dressed on her own.
Then came her first look with her parents, and plenty of tears.
Their ceremony was emotional, with lots of tears, and incorporated some Jewish traditions as Thomas is Jewish.
At the end of the ceremony, they broke the glass and celebrated with a joyful “Mazel tov!”
Later came the Hora, with Thomas and Bo lifted into the air on chairs while everyone danced around them.
After the ceremony, we explored the hotel for portraits.
The photographs became a little more editorial and playful: Bo sitting at the hotel bar, the two of them sharing their first cigarette as newlyweds on the balcony, and a photograph in the bathtub with her Louboutins in the foreground.
There was also dancing, cake and a bouquet toss, because apparently there was still plenty of energy left.
What I loved most about Thomas and Bo’s wedding was how all these details came together without feeling like they were there simply for the photographs.
A wedding in Rome, a day full of personal touches, and a celebration that felt entirely their own.
