They married in late October at the iconic Santuario di Santa Maria dell’Isola, with a quiet celebration at Villa Paola, surrounded only by the sea, the cliffs, and each other. Their families discovered the news only once they returned home in early December, a moment filled with joy and happy tears.
They had been trying for months to contact the church from abroad without success. Since Tropea was so meaningful to them, I offered to help by calling directly. The priest spoke only Italian, which explained the unanswered emails, but once we connected everything moved smoothly and an english speaking celebrant was arranged.
